PROVISIONAL RESULTS

Jim's Race Photographs

The above results are provisional with a couple of minor points still to be clarified.

The delay in publishing provisional results arose from a problem with the u13 race. The race started with 16 athletes from the Uists not at the start line. I decided to run them in a second race starting some 12 minutes later. The results show the races as they happened - ie as two races. I believe that Uist athletes missed the race as a result of a genuine misunderstanding, we had delayed the start of the Senior race to allow the Uist athletes time to complete registration and attach numbers etc and they assumed we would do the same for the next race - which we would have done if I had been at the start line.

Unfortunately I had to do a bit of emergency marshalling at the short/long loop changeover and, before I left, I failed to notify our starter that there might be Uist athletes still to appear - he started the race at the allotted time and they missed the race as a result. Normally missing the start is down to the athlete and would mean either starting late and trying to catch up or not taking part at all. Given the circumstances, I felt it only fair to run a second race and either merge times or share prizes. That decision is the one that has taken some time. We have agreed to list the event as two races and award prizes for each race.

Please email queries to anyone else but me! Well ok email me at srac@srac.org.uk

Many thanks to all who helped out on the day:

  • Aman Toor and the grazings committee who allowed us to use the wonderful machair and beaches for what must be one of the most scenic xc races anywhere
  • Rhoda MacDonald for allowing us to use the school and then running an excellent cafe service all afternoon
  • the timekeeping squad who did a great job in very trying conditions (weather, extra race, runners with jackets over their number, runners dropping out without telling us.....)
  • parents/members/coaches who helped marshal on the day - cold work but no tales of people running the wrong way means you did your job - well done.
  • parents/members/coaches who helped provide such a good spread on the day - thanks to all who contributed
  • race registration/results processing team who managed to get prizes sort out under very trying conditions - not cold but noisy and they had a few issues to sort out - see above!
  • 146 competitors who completed a tough course in even tougher conditions
  • Woody's Express Parcels for sponsoring the event and help make it possible.

I am sure there are others - apologies if I missed you out - so here is a catch all thank you to everyone I missed out!

NEVER AGAIN!
Gavin
