With no wind and the sun shining down on the Castle Green, conditions could not have been better for the rerun of the U9 Girls race.
24 athletes took part in the 800m race which started on the Castle Green headed out towards the monument and finished back on the green. The return journey included a steep climb up a grassy slope which the young athletes would have particularly enjoyed I'm sure :-) . At least the underfoot conditions were excellent throughout and made for fast running.
The winner on the day was Ellie Maclean of Laxdale who proved just too strong for the rest of the field. Isla Mackay of Knock ran on strongly to take second place ahead of Sian Macdonald of Aird.
Thanks to all those who turned up to help mark the course, marshal the race, do the time keeping, hand out the medals (and lollipops!), competitors and spectators.
