Stornoway Half Marathon - Team Relay
Entry Form and Sponsor Form
I write on behalf of Stornoway & District Round Table, as we will be assisting the organisers of the Stornoway Half Marathon (Stornoway Running & Athletics Club / SRAC), which will take place on Saturday May 24th this year.
As organisers of the fund raising for the event, we invite you to take part in the Charity Team Relay! The charity team relay will give you the chance of experiencing the special atmosphere of race day without having to complete the full half marathon distance, while raising funds for a very good cause!
Your club or group will have the option to retain 50% of monies raised or give the total donation raised to Stornoway & District Round Table “Local Good Causes”. This money will be distributed to local worthy causes.
Trophies will be awarded in two categories for teams taking part in the Charity Relay: -
1. Winning Team – That is first to cross the line!
2. The team, which has collected the most sponsorship money for Round Table “Local Good Causes”
Teams are to be made up of four runners (and two nominated substitutes in case of last minute problems) to complete the 13.1-mile course. Team runners must be at least Secondary School 1 age or above on the day of the race to be eligible to compete. Volunteers from Stornoway & District Round Table will be marshalling the half marathon course and cheering you on!
I enclose a map of the half marathon route; detailing the change over points for the team runners, and also a copy of the rules & sponsor sheet, please read them carefully,
THANK YOU!
In order for SRAC to determine the team with the most sponsor money raised, we would request that a representative from your team confirm the amount you have raised at race registration on Friday night (you will need to do this to participate). Your team numbers will be given out at registration, Friday evening.
Yours in Sport,
Willie Macleod

Team Relay Rules
1. The purpose of the Charity Team Relay is to support a local charity selected each year by Stornoway Running & Athletics Club.
2. Only teams pledging to raise funds for the charity selected by SRAC will be allowed to participate.
3. Teams will be required to donate 50% of funds raised to SRAC’s elected charity – Stornoway & District Round Table “Local Good Causes”, for 2008. Teams may choose to use the other 50% for their own charity or club, or may donate all to Stornoway & District Round Table “Local Good Causes”.
4. Each teams Runner A will be given a small baton, which must be passed on to the next Runner. Runner D must have the baton at the finish line. Any team without their baton at the finish will not receive a placing. Please decide before hand who will do each leg. All team members who run will be presented with medals.
5. It will be the team’s responsibility to get to each changeover point.
Important. Once each team runner passes the baton to the next team runner they should then come off the course. Runners must not try to get to the next changeover point by way of shortcuts across the course as this could confuse marshal’s, who may think that the runner is lost etc? Your co-operation on this matter would be much appreciated.
View a Route Map showing the three change over point’s for your team runners.
RUNNER A Will start with the main Half Marathon runners and continue to the first change over point (TR1), which will be at the top of North Street Sandwick.
RUNNER B Will take over here and continue to the next change over Point (TR2), which is situated at Willowglen Water Wheel.
RUNNER C Will take over here and continue to the next change over Point (TR3), which is situated at the entrance to the Arnish Road junction, which leads to the Arnish yard.
RUNNER D Will take over at point (TR3) and run to the Half Marathon finish line, where your teammates will be to cheer you in! Perhaps a team finish?
GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY THE RUN |
