SRAC Newsletter December 2010

Brrrrr – its cold out there – I hope Santa brings the coaches a reindeer and sleigh so we can keep up with these ever increasing fast runners out there!!

It’s good to see that the cold weather doesn’t deter any of you hardy young runners for coming to Club sessions – well done. I’m sure we will be having a few fun sessions in the snow over the next few months

We were really disappointed that the weather prevented us hosting the North District Cross Country Championships last Saturday (26th Nov) but SRAC have been informed that a new date will be set and it WILL be held in Stornoway. Good news for the Club as a lot of hard work had been put into the preparation for the event and by you through your winter training. We will keep you posted on the new date.

The next event will be on Saturday 4th December – Ness 10k /5k and Fun Run. It would be good to have as many SRAC runners entering as possible. We have a minibus going from Stornoway, leaving at 9.15am from the Sports Centre. If anyone would like to go please phone Anne on 704607. The training session will still be on at the Castle Grounds.

Saturday 11th December will be the last Saturday training session for 2010. We will be having a treasure hunt and tea/juice and cakes afterwards. We will still meet at the Porters Lodge at 10.30am but will finish at the Waterwheel at 12.00. Parents are welcome to come along to help and have tea and cakes at the end.

For those attending Tuesday track session, the last training session will be on 14th December – (no tea and cakes this time!!)

We will be having our traditional Boxing Day Trot round the grounds on 26th December. Meet at Golf Club at 11.00am – all parents/friends/runners welcome no matter what age!

Over the winter holidays we will be doing at least one beach session for those who attend the Tuesday session. This is a great winter workout finishing with a few high knees in the water!!! Look out for date and time on the website.

Thanks to all parents for supporting SRAC throughout 2010  - its fantastic to see the number of young people running on a Saturday and Tuesday.

Remember to renew your membership of SRAC or if you would like to join there are membership forms on the SRAC website with details of fees for juniors and seniors and families.
