NEWSLETTER - JANUARY 2010 Happy New Year: We hope you all have a successful year in 2010. All SRAC coaches would like to thank athletes and parents for all their hard work and support they put in towards training , organising and helping at events throughout 2009 – it was much appreciated. There are however several events coming up this month:- Ross has taken a group of athletes to compete at the Interdistrict competition in Edinburgh this weekend – which also takes in the World Championships. Look out for Jamie running against Kenenisa Bekele!! Saturday 16th – will be the 2nd race in the Lewis and Harris Cross Country Series. I will send all the details out to Lewis and Harris schools. This however is weather dependant. The Castle Grounds are covered in ice so unless this clears by Thursday, we will be forced to postpone this to next month. I will inform schools whether we go ahead or not by Thursday at the latest. If the race is NOT on then we will be training at the Braigh at 10.30am. Meet at the car park at the toilet block. We will be holding the annual prize giving on Friday 29th January. This will be held in the Drill Hall (TBC) I will send out details of times and costs of this next weekend. However in the meantime we would be grateful if you could let us know if you intend to attend this in order we can have numbers for the buffet. Please complete and return the attached slip to Adrienne, Anne or Ross asap. Due to the track being covered in snow and ice, Tuesday training sessions will be cancelled until further notice. However for pupils S3 and above, the circuit training will be on as an after school session every Thursday – see Mr Brady for details. SRAC membership fee is now due. If you attend the Club on a regular basis then it is important that you join or renew your membership. The Club are affiliated to Scottish Athletics who in turn cover insurance for our members. If you are not a member of SRAC you will be unable to travel to any events with the Club. To complete a form please log on to SRAC web site and send the form and membership fee to the address listed Our thoughts are with Duncan and Peigi and their family who were in a terrible road accident last Saturday. We wish you all a full recovery. SRAC Coaches
