SRAC Road Runners Pick of The North
Winners’ of the very tough HARRIS 10K – SRAC’s Jonny Pritchard and Chirsty MacLeod continued their good form into the Balfron 10K following the disappointment of a cancelled trip to the Ostseelauf Speeddy half marathon and 10k on the German Baltic coast, due to the volcanic ash disruptions that prevented travel to that event. Jonny place 8th male runner in a new personal best time of 37minutes 40 and Chirsty was second senior lady as well as 13th over all and also in a new personal best time of 38minutes 21.
This did not go unnoticed with the District team selectors as both were selected to run for North Scotland in the Great Edinburgh 10k which incorporated the Scottish District and University Championships, as well as the inclusion of some of the world’s top runners!
Chirsty was first off among the women’s elite field that included Florence Kiplagat, Terata Tulu and Scotland’s Freya Murray. Chirsty again returned a personal best performance to take her best time mark down to 38 minutes and two seconds. Her run also contributed to the North’s first medal win in this event!
Jonny was accompanied by club mate Andrew Joyce with Jonny running another personal best as he continues to improve with each race and recorded a time of 36 minutes and 8 seconds. Andrew ran even faster with a time of 34.13 in a day that saw local club SRAC provide a quarter of the North team!
