'Wacky Racers' 2011/12 Event 1

‘Wacky Racers’ 4.1 mile time predictor.

On Thursday 27th October a strong group of club runners and a few guests turned out on a fine autumn evening for the first event of our winter league. The challenging but scenic 4.1 mile course left from the Golf club up toward the castle then looped round the grounds to the mouth of the river Creed and along the coastline to the finish back at the Golf club.

Each runner predicted the time they thought it would take them to beast it round the course. For the race watches were forbidden to be worn by the runners, with the idea that in the end the competitor whose finishing time that was closest to their predicted time would win and be rewarded 25 points!

Some were unbelievably close in their prediction; others were a long way off. Spike McIntosh must have cheated as he finished the run only 4 seconds outside his predicted time and earned himself 25 sweet points. Keith Bray and Donnie ‘Guns’ Macleod were second equal just 9 seconds outside their guessed times.

There were a few super fast times on the night, our own Andrew King ran a brilliant 23.00 and Iain MacCorquodale of NUAAC came home in a lightning 21.58!

Well done to all that took part and we look forward to many more events over the coming season!
