British and Irish Veteran XC International 2006
In the recent British and Irish veteran cross country International at Callender Park, Falkirk SRAC runners Alastair Dunlop was selected to represent Scotland in the M50 category. Ever ready to race the best in his age group Alastair who is normally more at home on a running track over 800 metres, got his long spikes on to race in the mud over 5miles! On a heavy course Alastair put in a gutsy run to take 59th place over all in a mixed ages veterans race. However he was second in from a team of six Scottish runners and ninth in his age category. The tough running of cross country has long been the strength training backbone of middle distance runners and hopefully Alistair’s decision to take on the best in Britain and Ireland will contribute to a successful track season in 2007!
